This beautiful light blue bag in the Boreal Forest Collection is called “Indigenous “. It represents the people’s that have historically made the Boreal Zone their homes.
Around 70% of the Inuit, First Nations and Métis people’s call the Boreal zone their home, where approximately 600 indigenous communities reside. Close to home in Manitoba there are the Anishinabe (Ojibway), Cree and Métis!
I have lived in both Churchill and Inuvik and have many memories from my youth living close to these cultures.
The color and texture of this fabric pattern reminds me of the extreme cold climate with all the icy blue beauty of it. The hoar frost, the snow the cold.
This bag represents the people’s and their history here in Manitoba and Canada. I hope for peace for their nations and for the treaties to be honoured as they were signed.
This bag is also 12” x 12” and is perfect for small to medium knitting projects and is made from 100% cotton batik with pull tabs and zipper pulls made from deer hide collected from local deer hunters and locally tanned
